A Message from Team Wandell

Thank you for taking your time and visiting the Team Wandell website.

Dr. Josh Wandell was the principal of East Side Elementary in Elizabethton from 2007 to 2015. He did an amazing job and is still loved dearly by his former students and faculty. His trademark was greeting his students in the morning by opening their car doors, he knew them all by name, and usually had some nickname or joke that let them know he wanted a special relationship with each of them. If you are not sure how much they love him, find one of them and ask!

Dr. Wandell was diagnosed with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) in June 2013. He continuously makes frequent trips to the ALS Center at Houston Methodist Neurological Institute to meet with a special team of doctors. These trips can be costly along with the home health care required and medical needs that Josh will need. Faculty members, friends, and family members of Dr. Wandell organize an annual 3K Run/Walk in his honor to raise money, as well as raise awareness for this horrible disease.

You have the rare opportunity of making a huge difference in someone’s life, while at the same time showing the students in an entire elementary school what community and caring is all about. It will be especially meaningful to them because it involves their former beloved principal, Dr. Josh Wandell.

Since running has always been a passion of Dr. Wandell’s, the 3K Run/Walk is a great way to honor him. However, it will take donations for t-shirts, door prizes, water, and all the things needed to make this event a success. If you could possibly help by making a donation in the name of your business/firm, we assure you the money will be deposited in an account to be specifically used for this meaningful cause. The event will take place on September 17th, 2016.

Thank you so much in advance for your generosity. Let us close with this verse that has been chosen by Dr. Wandell as his “life verse”.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
